Larissa Waters, Greens Senator for Queensland
Before entering politics, Larissa worked as an environmental lawyer in the community sector for 8 years advising people how to use the law to protect the environment. She was named Australian Young Environmental Lawyer of the Year 2010 by the Law Council of Australia. Larissa’s vision for Queensland is for a fair society and a clean economy that puts people, First Nations connection to country, national parks, animals and farmland ahead of the profits of fossil fuel giants and billionaires.
Trish Frail, Ngemba & Custodian Elder, Brewarrina Councillor & ANFA (Australia Nuclear Free Alliance) Co-Convenor
Trish is a Ngemba elder and former campaign manager for the “Keep Bre Nuclear Free” group which successfully opposed the creation of a nuclear waste dump in the Western NSW town of Brewarrina. Aboriginal Brewarrina fish traps are well-documented in this area, and are still in use today. Trish’s efforts ensured that Bre’s First Nation’s heritage and natural environment were protected.
Clare Silcock, Energy Strategist, QCC
Clare is the Queensland Conservation Council's Energy Strategist, working to replace coal fired power stations with clean energy. She is a renewable energy engineer, with ten years of experience in electricity market modelling, zero carbon transition planning and community energy development in London and Brisbane.
Professor David Hood AM, Board Director, ACF
Professor Hood is a civil and environmental engineer with vast experience across major civil and military projects, professional development in emerging economies, senior management in both the public and private sectors and in education. He is a passionate advocate for action to address global heating resulting from the burning of fossil fuels.
John Quiggin, Professor of Economics
John is a Professor of Economics at the University of Queensland. He is a prominent research economist and commentator on Australian and international economic policy. He is a former member of the Climate Change Authority and has worked extensively on issues associated with the clean energy transition.
Dr.Paul Wilson, electrical engineer
Dr Wilson is an electrical engineer with over 50 years of experience, including firsthand work on the reactors at Harwell Atomic Energy Research Establishment in Berkshire, UK. As well as this experience in nuclear engineering, he has previously worked on ZETA (the Zero Energy Thermonuclear Assembly) an early attempt to build a fusion reactor.
