We're bringing more live music to the suburbs! Join us on Saturday, 6 July for an evening of hip-hop, folk and acoustic punk in a cosy little community hall in Newmarket.
Featuring spoken word/hip-hop band Rivermouth (fronted by poet Jonathan Sriranganathan) and supported by up-and-coming acts Plain Jane and Clover Love.
We're bringing some music and life to the 100-year-old Newmarket Memorial Hall at 92 Enoggera Rd (corner of Ashgrove Avenue). Doors open at 7:30pm. First act at 7:45. Wraps up by 10:30pm.
This is an alcohol-free event, open to all ages. No racism, sexism, ableism, transphobia or bigotry of any kind will be tolerated.
Entry is on a pay-what-you-can-afford basis:
$10 low-income
$20 standard
$30 to help make sure performers get paid fairly
If you are a First Nations person, we offer a free ticket as a way of Paying the Rent.
(If you can't afford to pay anything but would really like to come, email us at pine.rivers@qld.greens.org.au - we can always use a few extra volunteers.)
You're welcome to bring your own food/non-alcoholic drinks into the venue. We'll be selling warm cups of chai for $2 as well as some delicious baked goods and snacks.
Accessibility
The hall is wheelchair accessible, and we will have HEPA Filters running. Some parking is available on-site (main carpark driveway via Ashgrove Avenue, accessible parking via Enoggera Rd) but we recommend public transport if you can. The 345 bus stops close by and runs late into the night.
This is a local community fundraiser. Any profits will be shared between the musicians and the Pine Rivers Greens branch.
We acknowledge that this event is taking place on the lands of the Yuggera and Turrbal peoples. Sovereignty was never ceded.
