Disability & Hospitals Community Forum

You are invited to join the Federal Greens candidates Vinnie Batten for Dickson and Will Simon for Petrie, along with Senator Larissa Waters and State MP Amy MacMahon, the Qld Greens Spokesperson for Health and Disability Services, for a free Community Forum on Disability and Hospitals.

COVID-19 has highlighted the failures of our healthcare system in a dramatic fashion, and left many of us desperate to see a change that focuses on solving long-term problems. The hospital system is underfunded, and placed under the immense pressure of a pandemic, health care workers are struggling.

Disabled Queenslanders, their families, carers, health, community and disability organisations and peak bodies are calling for immediate and urgent action to prioritise access for disabled Queenslanders to vital health and COVID-19 safety measures during this critical time. The recent death of disabled Petrie resident Lachlan Moore from COVID-19 has brought these issues front and centre for our communities.

We want to hear from disabled people and healthcare workers in the local community, about the challenges you have experienced during the pandemic. We want to work with you to provide long-term solutions. We encourage you to come along, to find strength in shared experiences, and hope for the future.

COVID SAFE ARRANGEMENTS:

The Forum will take place in the Outside Bistro Function Area at the Lawnton Tavern. This is in an outside covered area, with good ventilation. All attendees must be fully vaccinated and Check In via the Qld Government Check In app to enter the premises.
