What will it take to protect the Northern Rivers from worsening floods, droughts and extreme heat, and ensure government responses strengthen rather than damage our communities?

Join Dr Luke Robinson, Senator David Shoebridge, Mandy Nolan and Greens Councillor Virginia Waters for an important community discussion about climate change, regional resilience and the political choices shaping our future.

Together, we’ll explore how all levels of government should prepare communities for worsening climate impacts, and contrast destructive dam proposals and continued coal expansion with the Greens’ plan to keep coal in the ground, protect our catchments and invest in resilient homes and community-led solutions.

The discussion will focus on the recently released CSIRO flood mitigation study commissioned by the former Morrison government, including its proposals for 10 destructive mega-dams across the upper catchment and the widespread community opposition they have generated.

This event is being hosted by the Lismore Greens.

The Channon Tavern is wheelchair accessible and has accessible washrooms. If you have any other accessibility requirements or need support to participate, please contact the event organiser as early as possible so we can make suitable arrangements.

If you are under 18, your parent or guardian will need to contact the event organiser directly to let them know there will be someone under 18 attending.
