Join us in Rockhampton as we rally against racism, rally against genocide, and rally for Palestine.

On Sunday the 7th of December we will be coming together in solidarity with the people of Palestine, as they stand against Genocide, Ethnic Cleansing, and Occupation by Israel.

In October we had an amazing turnout in Rockhampton - over 270 people came together to stand with Palestine and reject racism in our community. It was an inspiring display of solidarity, bringing together people from all across our community.

At that Rally, we talked about the ceasefire that had just been announced, and the deep and abiding problems involved. Since then, even under a technical ceasefire, Israel has continued to kill with impunity, abduct people, drive people out of their homes, withhold food and other vital supplies to Gaza, and strike at civilian populations all over the region. Our own government continues to send arms shipments to Israel.

While the people of the world express continued outrage over Israel’s crimes, the governments of the world and the United Nations are engaging in a sham ceasefire, which demands the disarmament of the Palestinian people, while failing to address Israel's genocide, or restrict their violence in any way.

It’s clear that the political establishment wants the world to go back to sleep. But as refugee tents in Gaza flood, as Israel’s aggression escalates in the West Bank, we must persevere, and stand with the people of Palestine, as part of a global movement for liberation. It’s a difficult time of year to come together, but that is exactly why it’s vital to keep the movement active in CQ.

Our Global Movement has made a difference. The Australian Government has ended some categories of arms trade by Australian companies, with Israel - after insisting that doing so was impossible. The ceasefire is deeply flawed, but the lives saved are a testament to Palestinian resistance, and the global movement supporting them.

Here at home, we also face a resurgent far right wing, which seeks to scapegoat people in our community for the problems caused by decades of poor government policy. By coming together in solidarity, our community can stand against racism and colonialism in all its forms.

On Sunday, December the 7th in Rockhampton, as part of a national day of action, we will continue our campaign to Sanction Israel, End the Genocide, and End the Occupation. We will Rally against racism, Rally against genocide, and Rally for Palestine.

Join us at Kingel Park, 54 Fitzroy St, on the east side of the park in the shade. Gathering from 9 AM, rally from 10 AM-12 PM. Please bring shade, water, blankets to sit on, and chairs if you like. We’ll also have water, shade and chairs set up.
