You're Invited: An Evening with Beny Bol OAM
Challenging Racism, Championing Community
With special guest: Senator Penny Allman-Payne
As a prominent voice for the African community in Queensland, Beny Bol brings deep insight, lived experience, and unwavering commitment to social justice. Former President of the Queensland African Communities Council (QACC), advocate for African youth in the justice system, and published author, Beny has long been at the forefront of change. (You can read more about his work here.)
As a leader who has worked across politics, government, and community sectors, Beny is all too familiar with the systemic racism and structural barriers that continue to impact migrant, refugee, and First Nations communities in Australia. His experiences offer both sobering truths and valuable lessons — lessons that can inspire meaningful action.
Understanding, Challenging, Changing
Before we can dismantle racism, we must first learn to recognise it. Beny will share insights into how he navigates systems designed without equity in mind — and how he works to build trust, relationships, and momentum for change. This is a rare opportunity to hear directly from someone who not only speaks truth to power, but also builds bridges where possible.
Everyone has a role to play in challenging racism. By the end of the evening, we hope you’ll leave better equipped, more inspired, and more determined to push back.
Supporting the Future: The Athiei Foundation
In addition to his work here in Australia, Beny is also the International Managing Director of The Athiei Foundation — an organisation dedicated to improving access to education for young people in South Sudan, particularly girls and young women.
The ongoing crisis in South Sudan has created one of the world’s most urgent humanitarian emergencies. A portion of the evening will focus on this crisis and raise much-needed funds for the Foundation’s vital work.
We hope you’ll join us for an evening of insight, connection, and contribution.
